Harry Symes-Prideaux was born in Bridgewater, Somerset on 25 November 1868. He qualified as a Dentist in October 1895, becoming a L.D.S., R.D.S. Eng. After practising at various addresses in London, he took up an appointment with the Sudanese Government. In 1921 he was Dental Surgeon at Khartoum.

He took part in the Nyima Hills patrol in 1917-18, as one of three civilians in the field hospital. As a culmination of his work in Sudan, Symes-Prideaux was awarded the Order of the Nile 3rd Class in 1932. Harry Symes-Prideaux died at Gosport, Hampshire in 1938.
