M.M. London Gazette 1 September 1916.

John Joseph Wilkinson was born in and enlisted at Consett. Serving with the 13th Battalion Durham Light Infantry he earned the M.M. probably for service during the battle of the Somme. He was killed in action on 20 September 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Flanders.
