Hong Kong Plague 1894, silver issue (Private G. Brown, S.L.I.) thin flan, edge bruising, contact marks, good fine £800-1000

George Brown was born in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. A Groom by occupation and a member of the Shropshire Light Infantry Militia, he attested for the Shropshire Light Infantry at Shrewsbury on 7 January 1887, aged 18 years, 8 months. With the 1st Battalion he served in Malta, September 1888-March 1891; Egypt, March-December 1891, and Hong Kong, December 1891-January 1895. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in January 1895 and discharged on 6 January 1899. With copied service papers.
