Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (C. Butcher, 38th Regt.) claw tightened, edge bruising, very fine £250-300

Charles Butcher was born in Littleport, near Ely, Cambridgeshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 11th Regiment at Cambridge on 8 March 1856, aged 18 years. Transferred to the 38th Regiment in August 1857, he served in India during the suppression of the Indian Mutiny. Was imprisoned, 20 October-12 November 1860. Discharged being medically unfit for further service 26 November 1864. With copied service papers and roll extract.
