India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1891 (Captain A. F. Cooper, 1st Bn. R.W. Fus.) nearly extremely fine £360-400

Augustus Frederik Cooper was born in Clifton, Gloucestershire on 25 January 1861, the son of the Rev. A. Cooper. As a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in August 1880 and advanced to Lieutenant in 1881 and Captain in 1889. He served with the Hazara Field Force in 1891. Served as Adjutant of the 4th Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, September 1894-September 1899 and was promoted to Major in October 1898. Major Cooper retired from the Army, receiving a gratuity, on 25 July 1900. With copied record of service and other research, including a copied group photograph which includes the recipient.
