South Africa 1834-53 (M. Sheehan, 2nd Bn. 60th Rifles) suspension refitted, edge bruising, contact marks, good fine £250-300

Michael Sheehan was born in Ballybeg, Co. Kerry. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 60th Rifles on 4 February 1847, aged 19 years. With the Rifles he served over seven years in the Cape of Good Hope, seventeen months in India and twenty-two months in China. For his services he was awarded the South Africa Medal for service in the Third Kaffir War, 1850-53 and medals for the suppression of the Indian Mutiny, 1858 and the China War of 1860. He was discharged at Winchester on 13 July 1868, his intended place of residence being Westminster. With copied discharge papers.
