General Officer’s Medal 1808-14, for Barrosa, a fine 19th century copper-gilt copy, obverse, Britannia seated left, with a laurel wreath in her outstretched right arm, reverse, a laurel wreath, with ‘barrosa’ and the date ‘mdcccxi’ in relief within, set in lunettes, with gilt swivel-suspension bar and riband buckle, the reverse of the latter inscribed, ‘T. B. Bailey, Coventry, Regd. Oct. 10 1856’, virtually in mint state £1200-1500

This is a copy of the unique General Officer’s Gold Medal for the action at Barrosa on 5 March 1811, the original having been awarded to Brigadier-General (later General) William Thomas Dilkes.
