Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Sahagun (Thomas Bannister, 15th Hussars) silver buckle on ribbon, edge bruising, otherwise very fine and rare £1800-2200

Only 20 single ‘Sahagun’ clasps were issued - all to the 15th Hussars.

Thomas Bannister was born in the Parish of Cerne Abbas, Dorset. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 15th Hussars on 7 September 1795, aged 18 years. He served with the regiment at the battle of Sahagun, 20 December 1808. He was discharged on 8 August 1814 due to ‘the reduction of the Regiment and length of service and rupture ...’ With copied discharge papers and other research.
