Ex Sotheby’s 26/29 July 1996. His full-size group was sold at Sotheby’s 6 March 1986.

Major George Stuart White, Gordon Highlanders, earned his V.C. at Charasia, 6 October 1879. Later celebrated as the C.O. at the Defence of Ladysmith. Latterly a Field Marshal and additionally honoured with the G.C.B., O.M., G.C.S.I., G.C.M.G., G.C.I.E. and G.C.V.O.
