Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 2nd issue, large letter reverse (William Winter, Rifle Brigade) plugged and fitted with a later swivelling scroll suspension, suspension refixed, scratch marks below suspension, very fine £80-100

William Winter was born in Dartford, Kent. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Rifle Brigade on 19 October 1837, aged 21 years, 4 months. During his 21 years service, he served six years in Malta and Corfu and four years in the Cape of Good Hope. Awarded the South Africa Medal for the 2nd Kaffir War. He received the Army L.S. & G.C. in October 1857. He was discharged at his own request at Winchester on 10 March 1859. With copied discharge papers and roll extract.
