General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, Northern Ireland (24252847 Gnr. P. W. Raistrick, R.A.), together with related miniature dress medal, naming severely scratched, otherwise very fine (2) £600-800

Peter William Raistrick was shot in Londonderry’s Rosemount area of the Creggan Estate on 11 June 1972, while manning a sentry post at Brooke Park - hit in the head, he died instantly. The Army later reported that a further 340 rounds were fired at them. Raistrick, who was serving in ‘K’Battery, 5th Regiment, R.A., at the time, was 18 years old, and was due to return home to Halifax on leave. He is buried in Illingworth Moor Methodist Church Cemetery, West Yorkshire.
