Ex J. M. A. Tamplin Collection 2003.

William Arthur Parr was appointed Inspector of Post and Telegraph Offices in Gold Coast on 26 August 1899. He arrived in the Colony and assumed his duties on 19 September 1899. Transferred from Accra to Leeward Stations, on a tour of inspection, from 11 to 26 December 1899, Parr was then transferred from Accra to Sekondi from 5 January 1900. He took part in the suppression of the Ashanti uprising as Superintendent of Field Telegraphs under Colonel Sir James Willcocks, K.C.M.G., D.S.O., at the front throughout the operations. In May 1901, Parr was transferred from Axim and appointed Acting Postmaster at Cape Coast, and was later Travelling Inspector, Post and Telegraph Department. Parr contracted enteric fever and died at the Colonial Hospital, Cape Coast, on the 16th or 17th of February, 1902. Sold with research.
