George Sampson was born in Bishopsworth, Gloucestershire and enlisted at Ynyshir, Glamorgan. Serving with the 1st Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 8 April 1915. He was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 12 July 1916. He was buried in the Bouzincourt Communal Cemetery Extension. He was the son of Alice Moreton (formerly Sampson), of Highridge Common, Bishopsworth, Bristol, and the late Samuel Joseph Sampson.
