R. Allison was born near Edinburgh. A Ship Plater by occupation, he attested for short service in the Scottish Horse at Edinburgh on 13 February 1901, aged 21 years, 2 months. With ‘G’ Troop, 2nd Scottish Horse he served in South Africa, February 1901-August 1902. With copied service papers.
