Arthur Jones was born in Birmingham. A Labourer by occupation and a member of the 5th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment, he attested for the R.A.M.C. on 9 March 1901, aged 18 years, 9 months and served during the latter months of the Boer War. In the Great War he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war with the 8th Field Ambulance on 20 August 1914. With copied service papers and m.i.c. - entitled to the clasp to the 1914 Star.
