Edward Hudson was born in Shottisham, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. A Labourer by occupation and a former member of the Suffolk Artillery Militia, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Burton-on-Trent on 25 May 1900, aged 24 years, 3 months. With the 14th Battery R.F.A. he served in South Africa, October 1900-October 1902 and India, October 1902-February 1908. Transferred to the Army Reserve in February 1908 and discharged on 24 May 1912. With copied service papers and Q.S.A. roll extract.
