Three: Staff Sergeant C. Bridge, Special Air Service, Royal Army Service Corps and Royal Corps of Transport

War Medal 1939-45, unnamed; General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.II.R. (14451891 Tpr., S.A.S.); General Service 1962, 1 clasp, Borneo (T/14451891 S. Sgt., RASC.) mounted court style for display, good very fine (3) £800-1000

Cyril ‘Charlie’ Bridge was born in 1928 and enlisted into the R.A.S.C. at Romford on 25 August 1944. Joined 22 S.A.S. in 1953 and served with ‘A’ Squadron in Malaya during 1953-56. During this time he was involved in numerous contacts whilst on patrol and completed fourteen operational tree descents in the jungle. He transferred to the Royal Corps of Transport before serving on River Patrol Boats searching for terrorists in Borneo, 1964-65. He was discharged on 26 November 1967 having completed his period of engagement. An extract from his testimonial reads, ‘A most steady reliable Senior N.C.O. whose capabilities as a seaman and soldier have no known limitations. Quiet but mature, his own personal behaviour, bearing, turnout and capacity for hard work leaves nothing to be desired. ....’
