I am authorised by him to signify by the award to you of this Certificate, his appreciation of the good service which you have rendered. With a Certificate of Appreciation to Sergeant D. Jenkins of No. 49 Maintenance Unit, from H.Q. No. 43 Group, dated 16 June 1954, ‘Your devotion to duty has been brought to my attention by your Commanding Officer. I wish to thank you for your valuable services, and by the award of this Certificate signifying to you my appreciation of the fine example which you have set.’ This certificate fitted with an R.A.F. metal brooch.

With a certified copy of Commendation for Good Work made on the occasion of the annual inspection of No. 49 Maintenance Unit by Air Commodore F. G. S. Mitchell, C.B.E. ... 17 June 1954. ‘Sergeant Jenkins joined No. 49 Maintenance Unit in June 1953 and has been employed since then in Unit Workshops. In October 1953, the arrival of the Special Installations Flight from St. Athan imposed on the Workshops a considerable burden of extra work, mostly of an unfamiliar character and often of an urgent nature. Thanks to the foresight and planning of Sergeant Jenkins it was possible to accept and complete these new commitments with the minimum of disruption of S.I. Flight production. ......... He has consistently displayed a very high standard of technical skill and organising ability and has never shirked responsibility. ..........’
