Four: Petty Officer 2nd Class T. Laughrane, Royal Canadian Navy

Naval General Service 1915-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, G.VI.R., unnamed; Korea 1950-53, Canadian issue, silver (T. Laughrane, 35080H); U.N. Korea 1950-54 (T. Laughrane, 35080H); Canadian Forces Decoration, E.II.R. (PO 2/C T. Laughrane) first three are official replacements, good very fine and better (4) £200-240

Thomas Laughrane was born at 25a Roscommon Street, Everton, Liverpool, on 21 July 1930. In civilian life he had worked as a Bus Conductor with London Transport, before joining the Royal Navy in January 1948. Attaining the rank of Petty Officer Mechanic, he was transferred to the Royal Fleet Reserve in July 1955 and honourably discharged in May 1956. Living in Winnipeg, he enlisted into the Royal Canadian Navy on 24 July 1956. On the following day he was promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class Engineering Mechanic Trade Group 2 (P2EM2). Awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration in July 1961. Discharged on 9 July 1964.

With copied R.C.N. Attestation and Discharge Papers; also an application for replacement N.G.S., clasp, Malaya; Korea Medal and U.N. Korea Medal, dated 5 August 1960 - this was due to the medals being lost in a fire in the Chief and Petty Officers block at
Stadacona in February 1959. Also with H.M.C.S. Gatineau cap tally.
