Pair: Private C. J. White, 48th Battalion Australian Infantry, who died of wounds, 5 April 1918

Cecil Johnson White was born in Newton Abbot, Devonshire on 15 October 1893. A Horticulturist to a Pharmaceutical Chemist by occupation, he attested for the 48th Battalion Australian Infantry in February 1917.

Private Cecil Johnson White, 48th Battalion Australian Infantry died of wounds (gunshot to the chest) in France on 5 April 1918, aged 24 years. He was buried in the Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension. He was the son of Sydney Bowring and Annie Margaret White, of Ibstock, Leicester, England.

With original photograph of the recipient and another of his grave. Also with a cartoon ‘The Flag Lieutenant’ drawn by Cecil White and a cap badge. With a quantity of copied service papers.
