A poignant Great War family group:

Three: 2nd Lieutenant W. F. Adam, Scottish Rifles, who was killed in action in France in August 1916

William Frederick Adam was killed in action on 25 August 1916, while serving as a 2nd Lieutenant attached to the 5th Battalion, Scottish Rifles. The son of William and Helen Adam of “Berwyn”, 329 Shawmoss Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow, and originally a member of the 7th Battalion, he was 22 years old and is buried in Flatiron Copse Cemetery, Mametz.

John Stewart Adam, William’s younger brother, was killed in action on 11 August 1918, while serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in ‘D’ Battery, 11th Brigade, R.F.A. Also 22 years old, he was buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
