Sjt., Notts. & Derby. R.); British War and Victory Medals (2235 W.O. Cl. 2, Notts. & Derby. R.); Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, E.VII.R. (76 Sjt., 7/Notts. & Derby. Regt.) mounted as worn, some edge bruising, very fine and better (5) £220-260

Wilfred Charles Gidlow was born in Nottingham. A Draper by occupation and a member of the 1st Notts (Robin Hood) Rifles, he attested for one years service with the Derbyshire Regiment at Nottingham on 10 March 1900, aged 20 years. With the Volunteer Company Derbyshire Regiment, he served in South Africa, March 1901-May 1902, being discharged at his own request on 27 May 1902. He served once more during the Great War, entering the France/Flanders theatre of war as a Company Quartermaster Serjeant in the Notts. & Derby Regiment on 28 February 1915. Later served in the Labour Corps. Discharged on 8 February 1919 and awarded a Silver War Badge.
