Markwick, A.S.C.); Khedive’s Sudan 1896-1908, no clasp (7321 Sergt. A. C. Markwick, A.S.C.) mounted as worn, contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine (5) £380-420

Sold with a presentation silver cigarette case, inscribed on the outer lid ‘From Lieut. Col. T. J. O’Dell, C.M.G. and Lieut. Col. H. G. Morgan, C.B., D.S.O. A.S.C. to Regtl. Sgt. Mjr. A. C. Markwick A.S.C. Xmas 1903’; a silver S.T.A.A. 3-year abstinence medal, and a London County Council school attendance medal awarded to his daughter, E. I. Markwick.

Alfred Charles Markwick enlisted into the Army Service Corps at Woolwich on 21 February 1887. He served overseas in Egypt, April 1898 to November 1899, and in South Africa, December 1899 to June 1903. He was discharged on 20 February 1914, but rejoined on the outbreak of war later that year and served at home until released on 21 March 1920 with the rank Temp. Quartermaster & Captain.
