M.M. London Gazette 25 January 1945. The original recommendation states:

‘At Derna under heavy shell fire Lance-Corporal Jones and Fusilier Hanlon saw a wireless truck hit and burst into flames. Disregarding all personal danger these two soldiers left cover and pulled the two operators clear of the truck. The petrol tank was then on fire and likely to explode at any moment. They extinguished the burning clothing of the men and by their brave action undoubtedly saved their lives.’
