Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Defence of Kimberley, Orange Free State, Transvaal (5152 Pte. J. Pilkington, 1st L.N. Lanc. Regt.) good very fine £200-250

John Pilkington was born in Preston, Lancashire. A Weaver by occupation, he attested for the North Lancashire Regiment at Preston, on 9 April 1896, aged 19 years, 10 months. With the 2nd Battalion he served in Ceylon, December 1897-February 1899 and South Africa, February 1899-September 1900. Transferred to the Reserve in April 1904 and discharged on 8 April 1908.
