Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Kandahar (2180 Sergt. H. Rawkins. 2/7th Foot.) polished, nearly very fine £200-250

Henry Rawkins was born in the Parish of St Andrew’s, near Shaftesbury, Dorset, and enlisted at Salisbury on 17 April 1871, aged 21 years 6 months, a Shepherd by trade. He was promoted to Corporal in May 1879 and to Sergeant in August 1880, and served in the Afghan campaign of 1879-80, being present at the siege of Kandahar and the battle of Kandahar, 1 September 1880 (Medal with clasp). He was discharged ‘unfit for further service’ at Aldershot on 20 April 1886. Sold with copied discharge papers.
