George Arbuckle was born in the Parish of Barony, Lanarkshire, and enlisted into the 42nd Foot at Glasgow on 9 August 1848. He served in the Crimea (Medal with 3 clasps, Alma, Balklava and Sebastopol) and in the Indian Mutiny (Medal with clasp Lucknow).He was promoted to Corporal in December 1857, and to Lance-Sergeant in May 1859, being discharged at Stirling on 19 January 1860. Sold with copied medal and muster rolls.
