The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) Regimental Insignia, an interesting selection including a piper’s very fine quality waist belt plate in silver plate and stated to be to the 3rd and 4th Battalions being a large rectangular back plate with rounded corners overlaid with a rectangle of thistle sprays enclosing a mullet with attendant thistle sprays and a strung bugle horn below, a piper’s plaid brooch in white metal the quoit mounted with circular thistle sprays enclosing the mullet over a strong bugle horn, this officially engraved on the back ‘3rd & 4th Batt S.R’; a cast brass badge featuring a QVC over a circular title strap ‘The Cameronians’ enclosing a mullet the strap with attendant thistle sprays, two soldered lug fasteners; an interesting pair of 26th of Foot collar badges but with a bronzed finish perhaps indicating brief usage after 1881; a scarce glengarry badge to Hutchinson’s Grammar School featuring a standard white metal glengarry but with HGS between the thistle tips; a fine die cast silver or silver plated badge featuring a circular strap ‘Cameronians’ with an applied central mullet, one screw post fastener; an officer’s scarce single epaulette strap in silver metal thread on red cloth ‘4/V/SR’; a cast silver plate single collar to the 4th Volunteer Battalion (one lug missing); a single white metal s/title ‘Lk’ and sundry other items, good overall condition (31) £300-400
