General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.II.R. (21181944 Gnr. M. Purcell, R.A.) extremely fine £200-300

Michael Purcell was born in 1930 and enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Omagh on 8 December 1947. With them he served in Hong Kong, August 1949-August 1950; Singapore, August 1950-March 1952 and with the British Army of the Rhine, October 1952-March 1953. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 19 April 1953. The above medal was his only medallic award.

With Regular Army Certificate of Service; Army Ski Association Membership Card; named card box of issue for the G.S.M., together with associated slip and registered envelope - these addressed to ‘Mr M. Purcell, 38, Franklin Road, Willesden, London, N.W.10’; photograph of the recipient in uniform; two identity disks; a number of photographs of military service in Malaya, including service with the Malayan Scouts - many of them identified.
