Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek, Cape Colony (3209 Pte., Middx. Regt.) clasps mounted in that order; King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (3209 Pte., Middlesex Regt.) edge bruising, contact marks, nearly very fine (2) £180-220

Herbert Thomas Pellman was born in Shoreditch, London, Middlesex. A Tinman by occupation and a member of the 5th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he attested for regular service in the Middlesex Regiment at London on 14 April 1891, aged 18 years, 11 months. With the 2nd Battalion he served in the East Indies, November 1892-March 1899. Transferred to the Army Reserve in March 1899. he was recalled to the Colours in November 1899 and served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa, December 1899-August 1902. Discharged having completed his period of service on 13 April 1903. With copied service papers and roll extracts. Note: ‘Cape Colony’ was a late award to the regiment and the clasp is often found out of place.
