Henry Morris was born in Camberwell, Surrey. A Carman by occupation and a member of the 4th Battalion East Surrey Regiment, he attested for regular service in the Middlesex Regiment at London on 29 September 1892, aged 18 years. After service in Gibraltar, January 1893-February 1895 and the East Indies, February 1895-6 January 1902, he served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa, February-September 1902. In May 1902 he was awaiting trial for ill-treating a horse and using insubordinate language. Discharged on 28 August 1904. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
