Alfred Harrison was born in Clapham, Surrey. A Groom by occupation and a member of the 4th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, he attested for the 5th Dragoon Guards at Hounslow on 19 July 1888. With them he served in India, March 1894-February 1896, after which he transferred to the Army Reserve. Recalled to the Colours in November 1899, he served in South Africa, December 1899-July 1901 - served in the 5th Dragoon Guards and Bethune’s Mounted Infantry. Discharged having completed his service in July 1901. With copied service papers and roll extracts. Not entitled to the clasps Tugela Heights’ and ‘Relief of Ladysmith’.
