Silver War Badge (B283442); King’s Badge, G.VI.R., in card box of issue, good very fine and better (8) £120-160

Sam Walton Shaw was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry on 8 October 1914. He relinquished his commission on account of medical grounds in January 1917 and was awarded the Silver War Badge. His address at this time was ‘Purlwell House, Batley, Yorkshire. During the Second World War he undertook voluntary services in the Evacuation Department, Scarborough, October 1939-July 1940 and October 1940-June 1942. With original commission document; War Office letter re. relinquishing his commission; slip re. the award of the Silver War Badge; letter of recommendation from the Evacuation Officer of the Borough of Scarborough; National Registration Card; sundry letters re. his application for various positions during WW2.

Henry Seymour Skinner lived at Tillington and enlisted at Petworth. Serving in the 14th Battalion London Regiment (London Scottish) he died of wounds in France on 13 September 1916 and was buried in the Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. With damaged card box of issue.

Silver War Badge ‘B283442’ awarded to 640321 Private John Edward Dyson, Labour Corps, who was discharged due to sickness on 4 April 1919.
