William James Riland Bedford was the son of The Revd. Canon W. C. R. Bedford and Mrs Bedford, and husband of Mary Conyers Bedford, of Bishopstone, Salisbury. As a 2nd Lieutenant in the 71st Brigade Royal Field Artillery, he entered France on 2 August 1917. Was wounded in action. Later as a Lieutenant he served with 15 Div. R.F.A. and later still, served in Iraq. In the Second World War, as Lieutenant-Colonel commanding 152 (The Ayrshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment Royal Artillery, he was killed in action in Tunisia, on 22 April 1943, aged 45 years. He was buried in the Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery. With copied research.
