Nine: Lieutenant-Colonel W. M. Robinson, Sherwood Foresters

1914-15 Star (2 Lieut., Notts. & Derby. R.) British War and Victory Medals (Capt.); General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (Maj., Foresters) correction to rank; 1939-45 Star; Burma Star; War and India Service Medals, these unnamed; Belgium, Croix de Guerre, ‘A’ cypher, first three and last mounted as worn; other loose, some contact marks and edge bruising, fine and better (9) £350-400

William Moncrieff Robinson was born on 1 February 1891. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Sherwood Foresters on 12 May 1915. Promoted to Lieutenant in September 1916 and served as Acting Captain, December 1916-February 1917 and Temporary Captain, April 1917-May 1919. Served in France/Flanders, 29 November 1915-13 July 1916; 9 November 1916-29 November 1917 and 23 April-25 October 1918. Wounded three times. Promoted to Captain in December 1923; Brevet Major in July 1931; Major in August 1938; Lieutenant-Colonel in November 1939. Served as G.S.O.1 with India Central Command. Retired from the Sherwood Foresters on 6 February 1946. With copied service notes.
