Four: Colour-Sergeant M. Quinn, Royal South Lincolnshire Militia, late 34th Regiment

Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (M. Quinn, 34th Regt.), first two clasps loose on riband, officially impressed naming with old engraved addition of rank ‘Colr. Sergt.’; Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (M. Quinn, 34th Regt.), again with old engraved addition of rank ‘Colr. Sergt.’; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letters (Cr. Sergt. M. Quinn, Linc. R.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (Cr. Sergt. M. Quinn, 34th Re[gt.]), fitted with clasp ‘Crimea’, worn engraved naming, all with old silver riband buckles by Lazareck, Aldershot, the last with crudely fitted swivel suspension and damage to reverse field at 11 o’clock, edge bruising, contact marks and polished overall, thus fair to fine (4) £800-900

Michael Quinn, a native of Fethard, Co. Tipperary, enlisted in the 34th Regiment in Wexford in January 1848, aged 19 years. During his subsequent career of 21 years with the Colours, he served for four months in Corfu, one year and seven months in the Crimea, and nine years and nine months in the East Indies, and was present at Alma, Inkermann and Sebastopol (Medal & 3 clasps; Turkish Medal), in addition to participating in the Lucknow operations in the Indian Mutiny (Medal & clasp). Discharged in March 1869, he joined the Permanent Staff of the Royal South Lincolnshire Militia, in which capacity he gained advancement to Colour-Sergeant; sold with copied service papers and medal roll extracts.
