A Great War D.C.M. group of four awarded to Acting Serjeant R. G. Harrison, Royal Engineers

Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (43608 A. Sjt., 82/F. Coy. R.E.); 1914-15 Star (43608 Pnr., R.E.); British War and Victory Medals (43608 Spr., R.E.) good very fine (4) £700-800

D.C.M. London Gazette 1 January 1918; amended 28 January 1918; citation 17 April 1918. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He did consistent good work while in charge of divisional advanced R.E. dumps during offensive operations. He organised the issues from dumps, which were all in shelled areas, most successfully, and on one occasion, by his courage and promptness, prevented a fire, caused by a shell, from spreading.’

The 82nd Field Company R.E. was formed at Bulford and joined the 19th (Western) Division on 28 September 1914. It proceeded with that division to France in July 1915 where it served until returning to England for demobilisation in March-June 1919.

Pioneer Reginald G. Harrison, 82nd Field Company R.E. entered France on 19 July 1915. Later transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve. With copied m.i.c. and some other research.
