William Carr was born in and enlisted at Montrose, Forfarshire. Serving in the 1st Battalion Royal Highlanders he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. Being wounded in action, he was invalided home and died on 19 October 1914, aged 17 years. He was buried in Montrose (Sleepyhillock) Cemetery.
