Indian Mutiny 1857-59, no clasp (J. Legrove, 37th Regt.) very fine £180-220

John Legrove was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 37th Regiment on 4 March 1842, aged 17 years, 3 months. Served in the suppression of the Indian Mutiny, being present at Azimghur. Briefly served as a Sergeant, May-July 1855 but was discharged as a Private in January 1864. Of his 21+ years service, 10 was in Ceylon and 4 years in India. Latterly employed as a China Dealer living in South Bristol, he died on 4 January 1897.

With copied (faint) service papers and roll extracts and copy death certificate.
