George Lethbridge was born in September 1835 in Yealm, Devon. He entered the Royal Navy as a Boy aboard H.M.S. Belleisle on 1 May 1855, serving as an Ordinary Seaman during the Baltic expedition. As a Petty Officer 1st Class he was pensioned ashore on 24 April 1874. With copied roll extract and service papers.
