Candahar Ghuznee Cabul 1842 (Lieut. Anthony Sadlier, 41st Regt.) fitted with original steel clip and contemporary silver straight bar suspension with pin fitting, some edge bruising, otherwise good very fine

Anthony Sadlier was born on 1 November 1819, and was first commissioned as Ensign into the 41st Regiment on 17 August 1838. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 30 August 1839, and served in the campaign of 1842 in Afghanistan; present in the engagements with the enemy on 28 March and 28 April in the Pisheen Valley; 30 August at Goiane, 5 September before Ghuznee, occupation and destruction of that fortress of Cabool, expedition into Kohistan, storm, capture and destruction of Istaliff, and in the various minor affairs in and between the Bolan and Khyber Passes (Medal for services in Afghanistan). He was promoted to Captain on 26 September 1845, and retired by the sale of his commission on 3 November 1846.
