Auction Catalogue
Waterloo 1815 (Peter Bourke, [Drummer] 2nd Batt. 30th Reg. Foot.) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, ‘Drummer’ erased, light contact marks, otherwise good very fine £1200-1500
A good number of Waterloo medals have appeared on the market with the appointment of Drummer erased from the edge. It is thought that perhaps the duty of Drummers to carry out regimental floggings was not something that they wanted to go on record on the edge of their medals! Sold with a copy of the medal roll entry and an O.M.R.S. article by Major J. L. R. Samson, entitled Did Waterloo Drummers Scrub Their Medals?
