A Great War M.C. and Three Bars group of six miniature dress medals attributed to Major F. V. Wallington, Royal Artillery

Military Cross, G.V.R., with Three Bars; 1914-15 Star with bar (sic); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. oak leaf; Defence and War Medals, mounted as worn, very fine (6) £100-140

Wallington was commissioned from the ranks of the Royal Horse Artillery in May 1916. He won all four of his Military Crosses whilst serving with the Z/39 Trench Mortar Battery, as follows: The Ancre, 13 November 1916; Trois Rois, 6 June 1917; Blaune Poort, 17 August 1917 and Le Virqyuier, 21 March 1918.

With part of a diary, 1 January-30 June 1918, with handwritten pencil entries, believed to have belonged to Major Wallington - it does not bear his name. The 27 March entry reads simply, ‘Hit by bomb’. Together with copied research in an album.
