Joseph Huggins Ballard was born in Hawkhurst, Kent. A Labourer by occupation, he joined the Metropolitan Police on 27 November 1899. Served in ‘F’ Division, November 1899-July 1901; Woolwich Docks, July 1901-October 1905; ‘W’ Division, October 1905-August 1907 and ‘Z’ Division, August 1907-February 1921. Promoted to Sergeant in August 1907. With copied service papers.

Charles Augustus Proudley was born in Christchurch, Hampshire on 30 August 1876. A Labourer by occupation, he joined the Metropolitan Police on 22 January 1900. Served initially with ‘S’ Division before transferring to Woolwich Docks in July 1901. He resigned from the force on 2 February 1925. With copied service papers.
