Three: Sir William Henry Weldon, Windsor Herald

William Henry Weldon was born in 1837, son of William Weldon, of Bramley Hall, Yorkshire. Educated at Harrow. Served in the 18th Hussars. He entered the College of Arms in 1870 as Rouge Dragon Pursuivant of Arms, a post he held until 1880 when he was appointed Windsor Herald of Arms in Ordinary. He was appointed Norroy King of Arms in 1894 and served as such until 1911 when he was made Clarenceux King of Arms, a post he held until his death on 8 April 1919. He was also Registrar of the College of Arms, 1886-94; Secretary to the Lord Marshal, 1904-11 and acted as Deputy Garter at the Coronation of King Edward VII. Awarded the C.V.O. in 1902 and Knighted in 1919.
