Frank Taylor was born in Taunton, Somerset. A Groom by occupation, he attested for short service with the Imperial Yeomanry at Cardiff on 26 January 1901, aged 23 years. Posted to the 1st (Wiltshire) Company, 1st Battalion Imperial Yeomanry, he served in South Africa, 2 March-23 October 1901. He was discharged at Shorncliffe on 24 November 1901 having been found medically unfit for further service. With copied service papers.
