Fred Dean was born in Ringwood, Hampshire, lived in Frome, Somerset and enlisted at Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Serving in the 5th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, he was killed in action, Mesopotamia, on 15 January 1917 and was buried in the Amara War Cemetery.

Charles Lodge was born and lived in Corsham, Wiltshire and enlisted at Chippenham. Serving in the 6th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 20 September 1917, aged 19 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. His sacrifice is also recorded on the Corsham Town Hall and Corsham Church War Memorials. Both with copied casualty details.
