Francis John North was born in Fyfield, near Marlborough, Wiltshire, lived at Marlborough and enlisted at Devizes. Serving in the 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 15 June 1915, aged 22 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial; his name is also commemorated on a panel on the Memorial Lytch Gate at Fyfield Parish Church. He was the son of Mrs Jane North, of Fyfield. With copied casualty details and modern photographs of the Lytch Gate.
