George Webb was born in Newtown, Hungerford, Berkshire. Living in Foxfield, Marlborough, Wiltshire and working as a Labourer, he attested for the Wiltshire Militia at Marlborough on 16 December 1889, aged 18 years, 4 months. Having served in South Africa, he was discharged as medically unfit for further service on 3 September 1901. With copied service papers.
