Alfred the Great (871-899), Penny, diademed bust right, ælfred rex, rev. londonia monogram, cross potent above, group of pellets below, 1.61g/12h (N 644; S 1061). Slightly weak on bust, otherwise about extremely fine and probably much as struck, dark tone, rare £5,000-6,000
